Bow Board~Summer Fun!

So, I thought I would share a little about what I've been up to with my almost 7 year old this summer!  We love projects, especially something that can challenge our creativity.  My daughter has been bugging me in the nicest way possible to create something to organize all her headbands, hair-ties, and clips.  We used to just put them in a bin in her room, and had to dig around to find what we needed.  I did some research on Etsy and Pinterest, and the good 'ole Internet.  I wanted to see what was out there, and the cost of a "bow board" as we fondly call it.  I decided that I could not find what I wanted, and the cost for similar boards plus shipping was kind of outrageous!  So here's what I came up with and the total cost was less than $25--and I splurged a little (I'll explain later). :)

The materials I began with.   A 12x24 canvas (purchased two marked down to 50% off-$7.99!!) , batting, fabric, ribbon, and three wooden block initial letters.  The hooked letters were my splurge item at $4.99 each from Hobby Lobby.  I also used a glue gun and staple gun.   You can choose any size canvas based on space and accessory amount--bigger is better! :)

I wrapped the batting around the frame and stapled the batting to the canvas--be sure to pull tightly.
I then wrapped the fabric around the covered canvas.  Be sure to wrap it evenly if you have a design or pattern on the fabric.  Then staple securely.

I then selected a coordinating ribbon to attach to the board.  The ribbons will hold the hair clips and headbands. Be sure to measure the canvas so you can evenly space your ribbons.  I looped and hot glued the last row of ribbon to hold my headbands.
Here's the finished product.  I stapled a piece of fun rainbow ribbon to hold the board.

Take some time out this summer and enjoy a fun summer project!!  I am thinking of making a second one designed for a boy!!  I am thinking of making it a photo board, and hooks to hold baseball caps!

Summer Newborn!

Summer is here, and in full swing.  I love this time of year, warmth is in the air, late night swimming, and fires in the yard!

I had so much fun meeting this family, and spending time with this newborn!  This little fella was 13 days new, and had a full set of black hair, and weighed in at 10lbs at birth (go mom)!!  What a chunky bundle of love he was!  Mom and dad are first time parents, and to see them doting on this little guy warmed my heart on this hot summer day!!!  Check out his preview, and make sure you like my Facebook page here and follow my blog for updates, deals and more!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, I know I am!

Double Baby Love

I recently had the opportunity to photo not one but two newborns--cousins in fact born only 3 days apart!  I would have to say (and I've said it before) newborns are my favorite!  The newness of a baby just makes me squeal!  So check out baby Ava & Aubrey, I see lifelong friends here, and tons of sleepovers for these babies and their moms!  So blessed to be able to share their unique friendship! A Mother's Love...and her baby (parts)....

Recently I was fortunate enough to travel to Greene County, NY to photo this little darling baby, Hana.  Her parents prayed & hoped for her safe arrival for nine years--so to say she is a miracle is an understatement.  I truly love newborn photo shoots.  There is something magical that happens during those first few weeks of life that I love to capture.  The parents are excited (and fatigued), and it's beautiful to see them so attentive and concerned with every movement or little squeak the baby makes...it brings me back to when my babies were born and how I felt.  I thought they would never get past the "newborn stage" and now my children are 6 and 3 and the time truly does pass too quickly. So I cherish all the photos I've taken and others have taken of my children, and I know this family will cherish these photos forever.  Momma Jen was so focused on me capturing baby Hana's "parts" so she would never forget this stage.  Take a look, and thanks Jen for allowing me to witness your miracle baby, and love her up!  :) xooxoxoxoxox

The Olivia Act

TC Photography has been challenged to participate in The Olivia Act, as many other photographers have been moved to do so! The Olivia Act is  named after one of the children killed in Newtown, CT. The Olivia Act was started by Leslie Spurlock Photography. Olivia’s family had professional family pictures taken shortly before she was taken from this earth, which they now will cherish forever.  Upon hearing about this, Leslie was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same. We all know that not all families have the resources to have photos taken, so this is a way to give back in honor of Olivia.I will be taking nominations for a family who you think would appreciate this gift of memories. The session will take place in the new year at a mutually agreed upon location chosen by the honored family (Near the capital district in Albany, NY). Email your nominations to tncphotos@yahoo.com and include a brief message on who you’re nominating and the reason why.
Nominations will start today and go through January 1st. Please feel free to share this status in hopes of growing the response. Looking forward to blessing someone with this gift!
Much thanks, and Happy Holidays!! :)

Fall is here!

Fall is my favorite time of year!  Fresh pumpkin pie, pumpkin coffee, picking apples, and the smell of leaves...I could go on, and on.  Another reason I love fall?  The awesome families I get to spend my afternoons with.  This past weekend kicked off a series of fall shoots with families, and I enjoyed every second of it.  I love seeing the new babies experience leaves for the first time, and the toddlers just learning to run as they stumble a little. Let's not forget my nephews that I rarely get to capture because of their hockey schedules!  To put it simply, I am blessed.  Here's a peek of what I have been up to?  Like what you see??  Then be sure to follow my blog, and check out my website here.  xoxo Tiffany
